Closing transaction, ON Semiconductor sells Pocatello, Idaho fab

On October 31, ATREG announced that ON Semiconductor's sale of its 200mm wafer fab in Pocatello, Idaho, USA, to LA Semiconductor has closed.

 

According to official ATREG information, the Pocatello factory covers an area of ​​33 acres, with more than 50,000 square feet of clean room space and more than 550,000 square feet of building space, and currently produces 0.35µm to 1.5µm analog CMOS, BCD process, advanced discrete devices and customized process technology.

 

"This is the third disposition of manufacturing assets that ATREG has helped with in the past 12 months, in addition to its plants in South Portland, Maine, and Oudenaarde, Belgium," said ON Semiconductor Executive Vice President of Global Manufacturing and Operations President Wei-Chung Wang said, "This divestment is a continuation of ON Semiconductor's fab-liter strategy to achieve sustainable financial performance by expanding production capacity for products in key markets of automotive and industrial."

 

Founded in 2022, LA Semiconductor is a pure-play semiconductor foundry operating in the United States for the production of analog, mixed-signal and power products.

 

Earlier, the Nikkei Asian Review reported that a Japanese fund backed by the Japan Development Bank and Itochu Corporation is buying ON Semiconductor's fab in Niigata, Japan, for more than 20 billion yen (about $135 million).
