ARM to sell high-performance computing business development tools

According to eeNews, ARM will sell Linaro its business development tools for high-performance computing.

 

The ARM Forge business is part of Allinea Software, which was acquired by ARM in 2016. It provides debugging and performance analysis tools for server and HPC applications across multiple computing architectures, including Intel, AMD, and Nvidia GPU hardware. But the availability of high-performance tools, such as compilers for 64-bit ARM cores, is key to the adoption of ARM cores in data center chips.

 

Javier Orensanz Martinez, vice president of development solutions at ARM, said, “ARM acquired Allinea and its Forge product line (now ARM Forge) in 2016 to ensure that ARM and its ecosystem had what it needed to succeed in the HPC and cloud markets. Essential developer technology."

 

After the acquisition, the ARM Forge business will be transferred to Linaro, and the software tool suite will be renamed Linaro Forge. Linaro intends to fully integrate Forge's engineering and business teams, and will provide ongoing support and updates to existing Forge customers.

 

Linaro CEO Rob Booth said: "Linaro was founded in 2010 to help consolidate the ARM-related code base, make it easier to use ARM software, and accelerate the deployment of ARM technology."

 

According to public information, Linaro is an international open source alliance whose main goal is to develop common software for single-chip microcomputer platforms of different semiconductor companies to benefit consumers and manufacturers.
