Nvidia Invests $3B in Lancium for AI Power Infrastructure

According to industry sources, Nvidia will invest up to $3 billion in Lancium, a power infrastructure developer backed by Blackstone, on August 8, 2026. Lancium is also the company behind the Stargate project, an ambitious initiative focused on building large-scale AI infrastructure.
Sources familiar with the matter said Nvidia will initially invest $2 billion to acquire a 20% stake in Lancium. If the company meets certain performance milestones, Nvidia’s ownership could increase through an additional $1 billion investment.
Power availability has become a critical foundation for the rapid expansion of AI data centers. In recent years, the United States has accelerated the development of AI infrastructure, with major technology companies including Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft expected to invest more than $650 billion in related projects in 2026.
However, the deployment of large-scale AI data centers has faced significant challenges, with power supply emerging as one of the biggest bottlenecks. As AI workloads continue to grow, securing reliable and scalable energy infrastructure has become a key priority for technology companies and infrastructure developers. Nvidia’s investment in Lancium highlights the increasing importance of power solutions in supporting the next phase of AI computing growth.
